Born in Florida.
Built to lead.
Hard work, humility, and the belief that real leadership starts with service — those weren't classroom lessons. By age 10, Heather was working the front desk of her family's Naples hotel, learning to listen, lead, and serve.
Her parents modeled entrepreneurship from the start. A father who invested in real estate. A mother who built her own advisory firm. That front-row seat became the blueprint.
In 2005, at 21, Heather lost her brother. That loss reshaped everything — deepening her compassion and lighting a fire to live on purpose. If you're still here, there's work to do.
"In 2008, at 26, I was reporting devastating losses to pension boards of teachers, firefighters, and retirees. That taught me fiduciary responsibility isn't a phrase — it's a promise to do right by real people."— Heather Fernstrom Border
A career built on
earned authority.
Heather's path wasn't linear. She earned two bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Business Administration from Western State — while competing as a collegiate volleyball player — then two master's degrees in Finance and Real Estate & Construction Management from the University of Denver.
She went on to develop and lead IR platforms at National Real Estate Advisors, Hunt Investment Management, and The Townsend Group — building the institutional relationships that would define her career.
She became known for how she builds teams — with transparency, trust, and room to grow. Always an advocate for those overlooked or underestimated. "We don't just need more diverse leaders — we need more people willing to lead differently."
